Bringing Comfort, Joy, and a Wagging Tail to Therapy

Hi, I’m Packer—the four-legged therapist at Wellnest Counseling! My humans are thrilled to offer animal-assisted therapy, and while they took their time writing my bio, I decided to take matters into my own paws. After all, humans may be smart, but they still have a lot to learn from us dogs!

I take my job very seriously—well, as seriously as a dog can. My specialties include tail wags, snuggles, and knowing exactly when you need a little extra comfort. I’m always here to lend a paw, whether it’s helping you feel calm, making you smile, or just being a good listener (I’m great at keeping secrets). Oh, and I am also fully certified in Cuddles & Comfort (C&C), a licensed Professional Good Boy (PGB), and hold an honorary doctorate in Tail Wagging Therapy (TWT). Impressive, right?

Why a Therapy Dog?

Sometimes, words aren’t enough—but a wagging tail, a wet nose, and a warm presence can make all the difference. That’s where I come in! I help clients feel more at ease, offering comfort, companionship, and a calming presence during therapy sessions. Research shows that therapy dogs can:

  • Reduce anxiety and stress

  • Provide emotional support and a sense of security

  • Encourage relaxation and lower blood pressure

  • Help with frustration tolerance and anger management

  • Increase focus and attention

  • Offer a fun, engaging way to build trust and connection

Basically, I make everything a little better—just by being me!

How I Help

I work alongside my human, Carly Rowan, LPC, to support clients of all ages. You’ll often find me sitting in on sessions, offering a gentle nudge, a reassuring paw, or a goofy grin when you need it most. I’m here to help create a safe, welcoming environment where healing can happen naturally.

Want to Meet Me?

I’d love to be part of your therapy journey! If you want to learn more about working with me, give my humans a call at 214-471-5058 or email info@wellnestcounseling.com.

Until then, I’ll be here—waiting for belly rubs, sneaking in naps, and practicing my best “good boy” behavior. Hope to see you soon!
