Hi, I’m Jen Marichal, a Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate under the supervision of Amanda Sherman, LPC-S, and an Elementary School Counselor in Dallas ISD. My mission is to create a warm, welcoming, and judgment-free environment where you can share your story, heal, and grow.

I believe that true healing happens when we feel seen, heard, and valued. My approach is rooted in unconditional positive regard, ensuring that every client feels accepted and supported. This safe space allows for self-exploration, empowering you to embrace growth and change at your own pace.

Who I Help

I specialize in working with adolescents and young adults, supporting them as they navigate:

  • Anxiety & Depression

  • Life Transitions

  • Low Self-Esteem

  • Identity & Self-Discovery

  • Relationship & Friendship Struggles

  • Career & College Exploration

  • Burnout & Compassion Fatigue (for educators & professionals)

With a background in education and mental health, I deeply understand the unique challenges that students, teachers, and young professionals face every day. My goal is to equip clients with the tools and confidence they need to move forward with resilience.

My Approach

I tailor my therapeutic approach to fit your unique needs. I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and incorporate a blend of talk therapy, play therapy, and activity therapy depending on what best supports your healing journey.

My Background

My passion for psychology, education, and child development has shaped my career. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Florida International University, where I worked in the School R.E.A.D.Y Lab under Dr. Katie Hart, contributing to research aimed at supporting young children with behavioral challenges.

Driven by my love for education and mental health, I pursued a career in teaching for four years in Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Dallas ISD before earning my Master’s degree in Counseling & Development from Texas Woman’s University. For the past three years, I have worked as an Elementary School Counselor, providing individual and group counseling, psychoeducation, and social skills training for children ages 3–14. Witnessing the immense need for mental health support in schools inspired me to expand my reach beyond the classroom.

Now, at Wellnest Counseling, I am excited to help adolescents and teens navigate their ever-evolving lives in a space that encourages healing, growth, and self-discovery.

A Little More About Me

When I’m not working, you’ll likely find me thrifting and antiquing, reading fiction, or spending time with my standard poodle, Kali. I also love traveling with my husband and exploring new places together.
